What if the biggest difference you make this year comes with wagging tails and grateful eyes? The rewards of fostering a dog are numerous. But sometimes, finding the right family can be difficult. A pet may have very specific needs that not all families can meet. Some may need medications on a schedule, and others may require a home without other pets. Lollypop Farm’s foster program is always looking for compassionate people to provide temporary homes for dogs in need, whether young puppies, dogs recovering from surgery, or pets that simply need extra time to shine.
Interested in fostering but don’t know where to start? Don’t worry! Our foster team is here to help, and all supplies are provided, from food to medications. All you have to do is love your foster pet. You can become a part of this life-changing journey to adoption today!
Here’s what our amazing Lollypop Farm dog fosters have to say about their experience:
Julie
“I signed up to foster dogs with the intention of fostering older pups who needed a calm, relaxed home. My resident dog had other plans. He chose puppies. It turns out my pal, Herbie, is a phenomenal mentor for the younger pups. He teaches them all about being a dog. Our quiet, relaxed home turns into a whirlwind of chaos, and we couldn’t be more pleased. Fostering is such a rewarding experience. It is amazing to watch an animal release the “shelter stress,” take a deep breath, and relax in the home. Then, the real personality comes out. Watching Herbie coach another dog, teach toys and friendly dog play, and communicate is such a joy. The Foster Care and clinic staff are responsive, supportive, and efficient. Supplies are provided.
I have had the honor of fostering ten dogs so far through Lollypop Farm. They all hold special places in my heart. My longest foster, Roni, made as much physical and mental progress as our houseguest. He went from a dog who was not only afraid of water but also who had trouble using his legs to a champion lake swimmer. He was a big cuddle bug with a fondness for coffee and sticks. I still think of him often and hope he has the best life in his new home!”

“My kids are grown, so this helps with the empty nest syndrome! It gives me purpose and tremendous joy. The pure love dogs and cats provide is a testament to their big hearts, no matter the circumstances that put them in the situation at Lollypop. The wagging tails and purrs fill my soul. Also, all the food and supplies are provided. Some animals need meds, but the clinic provides all the help and assistance you need. I work full-time and still have fosters regularly. Others need check-up appts at the clinic, but all work schedules can be accommodated. I’ve fostered lots of animals: a pit mix who had hip surgery who was the sweetest dog in the world. I felt sad when she left (I feel that way a lot with the dogs), but everyone has found a home. That is how I look at it – I could adopt one animal and save them. Or, I could foster and save so many more. It is a win-win!”

“Fostering allows me to align my actions with my values, and I get satisfaction knowing I’m making a difference. The biggest way it has impacted my life is that it has brought me two forever pups who I love and cherish. Fostering is the best life hack that people looking for a pet don’t know about. Worst case scenario: you help a homeless pet out temporarily. Best case scenario: you end up with a lifetime family member. Both of my pups came to me through “foster failing.” People might think that makes me a sucker, but I have also successfully let a lot of pups go off to their forever homes. Lilly (2012) & Pablo (2022) stole my heart and became my family. Daisy (2014) was adopted by my sister and became part of our extended family. I’m forever grateful for these babies.
