Our pets are precious to us, a member of the family, and a constant companion. We strive to ensure their health and happiness, but what happens when we are gone? How do we ensure that our pets will be safe and cared for if we no longer can?
Planning for the future is important for yourself, your family, and your pets. Lollypop Farm offers the Pet Guardian Program as a way to alleviate the worry of what will happen to your pets should they outlive you. This program is a special benefit of membership in the Legacy Society, open to anyone who has included Lollypop Farm in their estate plans.
Program Benefits
- You have the opportunity to write detailed care instructions, which will be given to your pet’s future guardians.
- Your pet will live under the loving care of a foster family, if available, while awaiting adoption.
- While in our care, your pet will receive the same veterinary services and love as all our animals.*
How to Enroll
Simply maintain an annual donation to Lollypop Farm and include us in your will and beneficiary designations or estate plans. Then, let us know that you have done so by completing the Declaration of Intent. Then, request a Pet Guardian Enrollment form for each pet you wish to enroll.
What if you don’t have a large estate?
You don’t need to have a large estate to create a will. Creating a will ensures that your most precious things, including your pets, are cared for when you are gone. It outlines your precise wishes and how to carry them out. There is no guessing about what to do and your loved ones can honor your memory without worry.
What if I don’t know where to start?
Creating a will is much easier than you might think. If you need assistance taking the first step, contact Robin Harisis, Manager of Legacy Giving, who can connect you to one of our trusted partners to help you get started.
*Lollypop Farm will care for your pet following reasonable and compassionate ownership practices, which means we may have to make the difficult decision to euthanize a pet if its quality of life becomes severely diminished. We do not euthanize for time, space, or age. Lollypop Farm will spay or neuter and microchip all animals adopted through the Pet Guardian Program if not already done.
