Everyone says it, but Caitlin Daly has loved animals ever since she was old enough to walk. In fact, one of her first memories is of rescuing a turtle. She can remember holding the rescued reptile up for her mom to see. Her mom, understandably, was a little less than thrilled as the reptile “let loose” on the living room floor. This may have been Caitlin’s first glimpse at what shelter life would be like, and we are so happy it didn’t deter her from a life of saving pets in need.
Caitlin Daly joined Lollypop Farm as the new Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in October. She comes to us with over 10 years in animal welfare and shelter management experience and a belief that together we can accomplish great things for the pets in our community. Innovative and enthusiastic Caitlin is accomplished in creating programs that save lives.
Caitlin previously served as the Executive Director at the Fredericksburg Regional SPCA in Virginia. She has developed programs that have gained national recognition in the animal welfare industry for decreasing stress among pets and increasing adoptions. Through these programs and shelter process improvements, Fredericksburg Regional SPCA was able to significantly increase the number of homeless and abused pets saved every year. Prior to her time at Fredericksburg Regional SPCA, Daly was Executive Director at the Humane Society of Alamance County in North Carolina. Here she was successful in dramatically increasing awareness and support for the organization.
“I can’t wait to get to know Rochester, and discover how we can help even more of the people and pets in the community,” says Daly. “The door swings both ways though,” she adds. “I want anyone in the community who has ideas or thoughts on how we can be making more of a difference to feel free to reach out.”
Like everyone at Lollypop Farm, Caitlin connects with others in the community in her love of her pets. Caitlin’s family includes 3 dogs, a cat, and a Leopard Gecko. Caitlin’s dogs include Jena and Rowan who are two very sweet mixed-breeds. She also has a rescued puggle named Poe. Nebula, her cat came to her as a semi-feral, but has grown to love. And last, but certainly not least, Charli is Caitlin’s Leopard Gecko.
Whether big or small, Caitlin believes there is a place for every pet in our community. We’re so excited to have her join the Lollypop Farm team, as we continue to expand our capacity for care and discover new opportunities to help keep pets and families together.
