On Thursday, February 8, Lilla turned 8 years old! It has now been over a year since Lilla first arrived at Lollypop Farm, and she is still waiting for her happy home. While some pets take longer than others to get adopted, Lilla has taken extra time due to her severe food and environmental allergies. She also would prefer to be the only pet in the house, making finding her perfect adopter just a little tricky. Our shelter staff decided that in honor of her 8th birthday, Lilla deserved a really, really special day.
Lilla got all dressed up for the occasion! We spelled out “happy birthday” in her prescription food, and she made pretty quick work of it.
Lilla had all sorts of birthday fun scattered throughout the day. Our wonderful volunteers assembled a veritable pile of presents for Lilla, including prescription treats, doggy toys, and even a new winter coat! Lilla made pretty quick work of the presents, too.
Our shelter team decorated Lilla’s adoption suite with balloons, streamers, and signs so that everyone who visited Lollypop Farm would know that it was Lilla’s special day.
Later in the afternoon, our Kennel Attendant Supervisor presented a very special cake that she and her staff had made, just for Lilla. Of course, it had been crafted out of Lilla’s prescription food, but it was frozen and decorated to make eating it extra fun for the birthday girl!
Lilla had so much fun on her special day. She got treats, gifts, and lots of cuddle time with her friends here at the shelter. But ultimately, when Lilla snuggled up for a nap after all of the birthday excitement, her wish was still to find a happy home of her very own. She wonders, could it possibly be with you?
