Lollypop Farm Exhibit Commemorating its 150th Anniversary Opens at the Rundel Library
Fairport, N.Y. (March 21, 2023) – This year marks the 150th anniversary of Lollypop Farm in the Greater Rochester community. As part of the celebration of its 150th anniversary, the organization will be displaying a historic exhibit at the Rundel Memorial Library Anthony Mascioli Gallery.
The exhibit will feature artifacts from Lollypop Farm’s history in the Rochester Community spanning from 1873 to now. Notable items will include a historical timeline, a humane law enforcement display, an 1895 playbook from the first fundraising event, “Pet Care Through the Ages,” featuring pet care and veterinary items (in collaboration with Genesee Country Village & Museum and Cornell University) from the last 150 years, and the origin of the name Lollypop Farm.
“It’s been inspiring to learn more about the history of Lollypop Farm, where we have been, and where we are going,” says Lollypop Farm Humane Education Manager Kim Ferris-Church. “Lollypop Farm has been a part of so many lives throughout our community, animals and people alike.” Ferris-Church began planning the exhibit over a year, along with 150th Anniversary Co-Chair Jill Gress and a team of volunteers.
Lollypop Farm’s official anniversary date is November 20th, 1873, and the organization will continue its 150th Anniversary celebration throughout the year at events such Barktober Fest in September, a new interactive activity at the Rochester Museum and Science Center this fall, a community open house, and other community events throughout the year.
“As we celebrate this momentous occasion, we are all grateful for the community support of our vital mission, a just and compassionate world for all animals,” states Alice Calabrese, Lollypop Farm President and CEO. “Lollypop Farm stands as a testament to the valuable work that is accomplished when we work together for pets and people throughout the greater Rochester area. We are proud to be working toward the next 150 years of compassionate care.”
