LOLLYPOP FARM EARNS PRESTIGIOUS SENSORY INCLUSIVE DESIGNATION
Fairport, N.Y. – Lollypop Farm is now a Sensory Inclusive Certified campus, making it one of only five locations in the Greater Rochester area to achieve this distinction through KultureCity, a leading nonprofit focused on sensory accessibility and acceptance.
As part of its on-going commitment to improving the lives of animals and people throughout the surrounding community, Lollypop Farm is continuously exploring ways to expand its abilities to develop meaningful and impactful connections.
Lollypop Farm’s certification will allow visitors with anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder, autism, dementia, attention deficit/hyperactivity disorder, and other neurodivergent challenges to safely enjoy programs, services, spaces, and animals in a calming, comfortable, and welcoming environment.
“We’re proud to be a Sensory Inclusive Certified campus and provide further opportunity for everyone within our community to take advantage of the life-changing programs and services that we provide,” said CEO Alice Calabrese. “We’re always in search of initiatives that will further support our important mission, expand our abilities to partner with volunteers and organizations, and make our services more accessible to all.”
Facilities throughout the campus now prominently feature signage designed to inform visitors of noisier areas that may impact those with sensitivities. In addition, Lollypop Farm will provide sensory friendly bags at the front desk that include noise-cancelling headphones to reduce auditory overstimulation, sunglasses to dim bright lights, fidget tools to provide tactile stimulation, mood signs and lanyards for non-verbal communication, and other items intended to create a calming influence so those with sensory-related challenges can enjoy the Humane Society of Greater Rochester. The main campus also features enhanced wayfinding signage to improve the overall experience of visitors.
Lollypop Farm’s Sensory Inclusive Certification underscores its deep commitment to its mission by actively fostering a diverse and inclusive environment where everyone feels a true sense of belonging and can experience the joy of connection with animals.
