Lollypop Farm Receives $10k Grant for Senior Dog Adoptions from The Grey Muzzle Organization

Fairport, N.Y. (July 25, 2024) – Senior pets deserve a second chance. Lollypop Farm has received a $10,000 grant from The Grey Muzzle Organization to help fund the Senior-for-Senior adoption program.

According to the American Society for the Prevention of Cruelty of Animals (ASPCA), the national adoption rate for older dogs is 25%, while for puppies and younger dogs is 60%. The Lollypop Farm Senior-for-Senior program increases pet adoptions for older animals by waiving the fees for cats and dogs 6 years and older when brought home by adopters 60 years of age or older. Lollypop Farm is one of 90 organizations to receive grants to help senior dogs from the Grey Muzzle Organization.

This grant will help senior dogs like Ellie and Wilson, two small dogs who were surrendered to Lollypop Farm after their owner’s living situation changed. At 8 and 10 years old, these dogs are still full of life and love, and the Grey Muzzle Foundation grant’s support ensures that any needs are met, from medical to behavioral.

“With this generous grant from the Grey Muzzle Foundation, we can ensure that older pets get the attention and care that they deserve on their way to finding new homes,” states Adrienne McHargue, Vice President & COO at Lollypop Farm. “Every pet deserves a second chance, no matter their age.”

Over the past 16 years, the national nonprofit Grey Muzzle Organization has provided more than $ 5.7 million in grants to support its vision of “a world where no old dog dies alone and afraid.”
