WEBSTER RESIDENT ARRESTED FOR ANIMAL CRUELTY
Fairport, N.Y. (February 14, 2019) – On Monday, February 11, 2019, Lollypop Farm, the Humane Society of Greater Rochester, the region’s designated SPCA humane law enforcement department, arrested Taletha Shaw (age 45) of Webster, NY, for failing to provide proper sustenance (vet care) for 10-week-old Shar-Poo, named Elsa.
Lollypop Farm Humane Law Enforcement Investigators were notified after New 2U Rescue took the dog to the Animal Hospital of Pittsford where her eye had to be removed. Elsa is currently with a foster family and is doing well.
“The veterinarians who examined Elsa said her eye was bulging from the eye socket and had to be removed because it was not properly treated,” says Reno Di Domenico, Lollypop Farm’s Vice President for Law Enforcement.
Shaw is charged with failing to provide proper sustenance and neglect (veterinary care) and has been ordered to appear in Webster Town Court on Wednesday, February 20th at 2 p.m. The misdemeanor offense could lead to up to a $1,000 fine and/or up to one year in prison.
Lollypop Farm maintains an SPCA designation and its Humane Law Enforcement Department is charged with investigating and enforcing the animal cruelty laws of New York State. Serving Monroe, Orleans, Livingston, and Genesee counties, Lollypop Farm plays a critical role in addressing animal cruelty in the community. These humane law enforcement officers are certified state peace officers with the authority to make arrests and seize animals being abused or neglected. Lollypop Farm and its Humane Law Enforcement Department receives no tax dollars or government funding.
