The Pets Are Welcome program is another step toward our goal of becoming a Shelter of Hope for unwanted animals. The goal of the program is to find more homes for adoptable animals by encouraging pet owners and landlords to work together to find solutions for pet housing problems.

Many pets are surrendered to animal shelters each year because their owners have difficulty finding rental properties that allow pets. The Rochester Pet-Friendly Apartment List identifies many apartments and townhouses in the Rochester area, both city and suburban, that open their doors to pets.

The columns of the List are:

• Apartment name and address.
• Rental office telephone number.
• Brief summary of the types of pets allowed, special restrictions.
• S/N=Spay/Neuter - if column is checked, pets must be spayed/neutered.
• PL=Pet Lease/Pet Rider to the Lease - if column is checked, tenants must agree to a detailed Pet Policy and/or sign a Pet Lease or Pet Rider to the Lease to have pets.
